Dark ruby-purple color. Throughout you get notes of pure cherry and plum with a grainy minerality and subtle notes of coffee and hazelnut. Fine sharp tannins and fruit on the finish. Pleasant but doesn't hold much interest.
A bit of a dark, savory thing with flintiness (less fine) on the nose. this seems to indicate that these pns smooth out a bit with age. still broad across the palate, but smooth. the oak shows, there's sweetness here. quaffable, but not very distinctive, a little simple. 86
This is the wine that turned me on to Central Otago a year ago. I have yet to have a bad Pinot from that AVA. The nose on this is intoxicating. Tremendous bright red fruit and floral highlights that lift your spirit and your mind to etherial places.
