clear, med intensity, gold, nose: clean yet somewhat oxidized aroma, apricot and other ripe yellow fleshed fruit palate: dry, acid is med,tannin from skin, body med alc est 13, length med + finish of ripe dried and fresh peach, apricot, spice pair with: cheeses from retion
golden yellow colored with flowers and spicy apples on the nose. zesty acid, but it's not too much. this is a plumper, riper styled gewurtz with a bit of sweetness. it's very well-balanced though, with pineapples, green apples and minerals. just a hint of spice. a good intro gewurz.
Popped and poured. Beautiful golden color. Nose of lychee fruit and hints of something floral. The CT consensus is roses but I could not directly identify. If you think all Alsacian Gewurz is dry, think again. The sweetness caught me off guard. Imagine the syrup from canned peaches in heavy syrup. Now imagine instead of peaches it was canned lychee in heavy syrup. Now take a lemon-honey celestial seasonings tea bag and seep it in the lychee syrup. Sounds great right? It comes off like lychee flavored Southern Comfort. I rate it a C for wine style quality (there are plenty of better sweet Gewurz's across the Rhine) and a C for value (I don't know that I would drink this wine if YOU gave me $16), for an over all rating of C. (Lucien Albrecht Gewurztraminer Reserve) #2; COLOR-gorgeous and viscous medium golden; NOSE-extremely aromatic; sugar cane; mango; big time peach juice; may blossom; TASTE-very perfume-like; gorgeous white peaches; peach juice pouring out; may blossoms; lots of spiciness; raw ginger; very lively cinnamon on the finish; cinnamon covered peaches w/ ginger juice; very solid wine; enjoying this very much; great balance; high acid on the back-end; will last for 3 years and get better with age; I really like the complexity of this wine; I'm taken aback by how good this is; bringing thunder at $16 bones; W&S-90; GV-90+
