It has held up remarkably well after 17+ years. Silky smooth resolved tannins, rich creamy mouthfeel, syrupy but not cloying with lots of blackberry and vanilla. 15.8% and you can feel it but it's somewhat in balance with the intensity of the fruit and oak.

deep ruby purple, slight pink rim variation, a bit hazy, high viscosity- (legs hanging for minutes!)med+ staining.Fresh red fruit , intensely appealing aromas- raspberry, cranberry. Baked cherry pie, stewed blueberry, clove and pepper on the palate, finishing with savory herbs and eucalyptus and a bit bitter, but as it goes on the sweetness reasserts. Bone dry and super charged with alcohol though it all comes together. Really well made.

At first a hair more complex and dense, and also more blunt and hollow, than the Carlisle '06 Bacchi Ranch. But then, with a few hours' air, the Hartford Dina's gained sweetness, balance, and heft, taking the lead and possibly winning by a neck. Based on this showing, I'd think this has a couple of years left in it. --> late 2015.

Stately but ascerbic, this has lost its voluptuous fruit but it really lights up with spicy Moroccan lamb tagine.
