Bought at an auction as part of a mixed lot years back. It’s an NV but should be 70s / early 80s based on the other wines in the lot. Opened on Sunday evening, expecting this to go swiftly down the drain and to open something else. Strange metal closure as mentioned by others, could not figure out how to open and used a metal chopstick to lift one of the metal prongs until the prong broke. Upon twisting the metal capsule, cork also broke in two but removed rest easily with the Durand. Amber color. Has this yeasty touch with some brioche on the nose and attack but it’s a still wine. Amazingly no sign of oxidization whatsoever. Unlike some old white GC Burgundy I have had, this is not heavy or tired at all and is rather showing lovely freshness and acidity. Good length too. Best seriously old white I have had.
PS: Will upload a picture of the label as it’s slightly different to the ones already here. Says "Vin Nature de la Champagne" and "Saran Nature"
PPS: Some more googling reveals that the "Vin Nature de la Champagne" on the label was replaced in 1974 with "Coteaux Champenois". Pretty impressive for a 50 year old Chardonnay...

Somehow I'd forgotten that white still wine from champagne was allowed to exist. Juhlin says this is the best of its type; Stevenson claims two bottles of Dom Pérignon are sacrificed to make one of these. Noticed this bottle in an auction and it was so intriguing I had to bid. The finish price (see below) seems reasonable. Hard to judge the age of this, no abv suggests to me before the mid-1980s. Label on rear indicates it was exported to Italy, so it's travelled.
Weird closure. Cork broke but was extracted cleanly. Deep gold colour. Light but pleasant nose, with sweet vanilla, caramel, candied fruit; increasingly perfumed with air. Like old champagne, naturally. Surprisingly good taste. Moderate bright acidity and fruit, mild sweetness.
Great tasting old chardonnay, the aroma is especially good. I just wish it had bubbles! But then it would be considerably more expensive... [Cork with metal rods; unknown abv; purchased at auction for £55].

Tiny, short cork really did its job. This wine was purchased on release and stored properly, and it did not disappoint. Rich yellow fruit still lingering meshed with something that reminded me of quince. Some nutty, toasted flavors kicking around as well. Would be happy to just smell this wine, but the palate -- with good underlying acidity -- was delicious. Really enjoyed this bottle.

Had two bottles with different corks side by side. They both had rather light colour, but the freshest one was lighter and cleaner. The freshest bottle had a nose of raspberries and honey. It had very high acidity and long finish. The palate could have been richer though. These wines would shine with appropriate food.

From 80-ties. Deep gold color. Aromas of raisins, apple jam, caramel, brioche, honey. High acidity, intense taste of old champagne. Surprisingly good.
