Powerful stuff - thicker and sweeter the Yquem - less acidic (or at least it appears less) - every descriptor possible comes into play over the course of two hours in the glass. My first ever L'Extravagant - and a real treat if you can ever find a bottle. A really unique bottle.

Incredible sweet wine. Huge concentration, with an acidity high enough to have enough freshness. Rich and deep, aromas of apricot, creme brulee, quince jelly. Long and vibrant, fresh and focus, rich without being heavy. Actually better in this off vintage than the 2001 Yquem we tasted 2 days later!

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 12/10/2015-12/12/2015 (Chicago, IL): Deep orange colour (already?!). The botrytis is strong with this one... this is extremely rich and opulent, with quality that is easily at or surpassing Yquem level. Very sweet and heavily spiced, with incredible acidity which holds all the separate components together. I need to put some of this in my cellar...

Ramonet Montrachet and Leroy Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Dried and concentrated apricot with some creme brulee notes. Powerful fruit. Intense botrytis. Unctuous and luxurious texture with energizing acidity. Very long finish. Slightly better the 2nd day (~16 hours after initially opened).

What can one say about this wine. It smells like a mixture between a great Neusiedlersee TBA and an amazing Sauternes. The fat and richness reminds me of Nairac 2003 but it has some other facets. So super beautiful!
