Continue to love the 2002 Auslese. This wine showed exceptional balance, with the honey and vanilla cream cut through with laser-like acidity and crunchy minerals on the finish. Absolutely delicious.

1st of 12. Deep orange gold. Fresh, floral, honeyed orange with green apple citrus (some botrytis). Sweet but low alcohol makes it pleasantly light and not cloying. Drunk as a digestive and it was difficult to resist a second glass. 4+/5

Dinner at Black House at Straw Valley. AP #13-03. From 375ml. A shimmering medium gold in the glass, this was filled with yellow fruits including peaches and mirabelles mixed with obvious botrytis. Medium plus bodied, it is still quite youthful and primary at this point. Long on the finish that starts off sweet and slowly dissapates. Fantastic wine. 50+14+14+9+9=96

Copper to orange color. This would actually be great with rich food – say, duck with a reduction – as the vivacious acidity is in perfect balance with the honeyed, caramelized sweetness; this shows tremendous lift and depth. The finish is complex and very, very long, with gingery spice and baked apple notes. Elegant and very impressive.

Not as good as the 01 or 98 but a very serviceable gk. Sweet but balanced with good acidity.
