Warm cedar wood, hint of pine needles, slightly meaty scent with a note of ginger on the pleasantly complex nose. Luxurious, silky body showing darker berries, hint of a redcurrant, positively chewy tannins, acidity balanced with perceived alcohol spice and a note of liquorice. Much more French in its oak character than louder New World styles, yet a signature South Africa composition. At this stage this outstanding blend of cab sauv, pinotage, and merlot is maturing very nicely, perfectly pleasing now yet with some more scope to develop.

Stevige tannines, mediumlange afdronk.

Smoky, woody nose. Soft and silky but way too smoky for my taste. A dirty wine.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2009-06; South-Africa (By HV): Full bodied and juicy soft cherries. Soft bitterness and tannin. A bit drying in the finish.
