Red currant, berries, florest floor, mushroom, earth, savour yspice, soy, a little cellar stink. Slightly sour, lots of chines tea on the palate, red currant, plenty of texture, mushroom and forest floor in support, a little dried peel and a touch of red cherry on the palate and nose with time. Very nice with roast pigeon...

A most interesting bottle. Blush red Chambolle colour, slightly cloudy. Sweet red fruits on nose and palate, and flowers. But slightly sweaty, and some tannins still. But no dominant acidity, and so a welcome departure from most lesser 1996s. Given an hour or two, this may settle down into a really good village wine.

I have been tracking this wine for several years now and it just keeps getting better and better. At first it seems more developed on the nose than in the mouth, with some smoky and decaying leaf aromas and a palate that is taut and lean. After time in the glass there are pretty purple flowers scents and the crunchy cherry fruits come to the fore. It is deliciously crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and thoroughly refreshes with its cool fruit personality.

Nottingham Offline (Harts): On the colour, I'd put this as early to mid 90s. Very pleasant nose - interesting. Northern Rhône? But very pinot like on the palate. very firm tannins. Clean and fine.
