Very good Cabernet from Chile, just slightly past its peak. After a short while in the glass, the wines opens up with typical aromas: blackcurrant buds, tar, sage. I'm guessing I would have gotten a little more intensity 5 years ago. Long finish.

Coravined another 250ml out of a bottle that was first coravined in August. Seems very consistent with my notes on the first 250ml that were pulled originally. I will compare the last 250 against a fresh bottle in a few months. So far, impressed with both the wine and the Coravin.
More specifically about the wine, it really does have an odd funk when first poured, but it does blow off, but it really does take at least a half hour. Still good fruit and hints of cigar and leather.

Coravin'ed about 250 ml tonight as an experiment. Right out of the bottle it had a tremendous nose. Let it breath in the glass for about an hour. Some funky stuff going on here... Really nice tobacco and some spice but also a hint of those medicinal herbs that was mentioned in Alex H (back in 2009). Subtle fruit with a long finish. I am very impressed with this wine and look forward to watching it's progression.

South American and American Wines; 12/6/2009-12/7/2009 (Wine Gallery): Nose is kinda weird. Old hospital, dry wood and dry leaves. Sterile smelling and also herbal. Elegant red fruits. Supple and enchanting. Somewhat stewed, a touch of medicinal herbs. Feminine wine. Not mind blowing but understandably understated in its own right. Soft inviting tannins, unintrusive and unassuming.
