First wine of the second flight. Shocking peanut butter on the nose at first that eventually blew off (no one else got that note, so maybe I was dreaming about a peanut butter jelly sandwhich with the wine at this time). LOL! The nose then turned into veggies and black tea. On the palate the wine is nicely balanced but lacking any meaningful fruit. The finish is also shorter than 00' and 01'. Time to drink this one up.

Bob Betz Rhone Tasting (Gracious Host Eric LeVine): Ham and Pepper on the nose. Still youthful, elegant, ripe red fruits. Sweet vanilla finish. I was impressed with how this wine was showing initially, and that is reflected in my score. towards the end of the flight though, BB pointed out it was fading in the glass. Sure enough... it fell apart quickly. Dont Decant and Drink soon.

This is a stunning surprise - absolutely delish! Initial tannins are thoroughly resolved, yet wine is still structured. Maroonish-purple in the glass, early aromas of cola. Beautiful sweet fruit on the entry, coating without cloying. Extended finish...and it hasn't begun to really open up yet. Bought at auction for a song...still has 4-5 years min on it, but why wait - this is a wonderful example of WA syrah. Great bottle, Bob.
