WineBerserkers Burgundy Dinner (Garcon, San Francisco): Nose is a bit reticent for a volnay, slight spice and red fruit; palate is a well balanced modern style with plenty of red fruit but not overripe; medium finish. This will last a bit longer but it's drinking well now. 89
Popped and poured up open up in the glass. Somewhat modern fruit profile up front that started to yield after an hour or so to the mineral and more savory tones. Good mushroomy nose at that point. Palate not bad, but lacking some depth. The knock isn't what I would call green notes, but the tannins are a little coarse and underripe and it shows in the finish. The coarse finish may outlast the fruit on the palate and get worse with time. This would probably show better with food… especially as a second or third bottle after a 30 minute decant.
