Voyager Estate (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Softer and more engaging that the straight Cabernet Tom Price on the nose. Blackcurrant, plum, a little violet, pyrazine. Medium plus intensity acidity, chalky tannins close down the palate a little, slightly sour blackcurrant, plums, sweet spice, a little alcohol warmth. This opens with and air and improves. Nice.

Wet gravel, menthol, olive, dusty blackcurrant, bay, vanilla, violet, and pencil shavings; it’s all there on the classic MR cabernet nose.
Plentiful, fine grained tannins frame the wine; good interplay with the acid and fruit. Commendable length, though perhaps the wine is starting to dry out a touch? With air, some red fruit comes through and the wine gains finesse.
Opinion: A savoury expression of cabernet. Likely to hold for a while. Drink over the next 8-10 years, with next bottle in ~3 years. Hopefully my suspicion that the wine is starting to dry out is unjustified.

I am glad this was my last bottle. While carefully cellared for years, it was gone, having lost most of it’s bouquet and mouthfeel and gained a sharp acidity which didn’t reduce even after 2 hours. Sad.

Still cruising along nicely, still has great depth and length of fruit and a really good structure. Dark blackberries, tobacco, smooth creamy tannins, olives and black tea. Very well balanced and is ageing beautifully at the moment. This should hold for a little while yet I think.

2 hour decant opened the wine out, improving a lot, more rounded than the straight cabs. Best bottle of this.
