  • Cork, 13.5% alc. Disgorged Aug 2007. Pours dark and a little dull. Not quite bricking, but heading that way on the rim. Not much mousse, however what is there is very fine and creamy.

A heady aroma of Christmas cake, mulled wine, chocolate, pencil shavings, and leather with a touch a fennel or five spice. Phew. So much complexity here.

Full flavoured, full bodied, creamy, and luscious on the palate, but the oak plays a part; tightening up the finish. Complex. Long, dry, tawny-like finish.

Opinion: You wouldn’t call this refreshing such is the intensity and power on tap. It needs full-flavoured foods to match. Very impressive. Drink over the next couple of years.
