  • Opened and served and monitored over one hour.
Needs it time to open up but still a wine of quality and well made. Much like last time (Papies 90) we really liked this for the level. Good fruit, strawberry, light earthy, lively, firm. A touch dry on the finish, light smoky, meaty side. Very nice and a solid 91.

  • Decanted and served. Quite a bit of sediment here. Very healthy and still holds well. Light cherry on the nose, red fruits with a touch of dark smoky side and just showing an earthy side. Soft wine, well aged and very enjoyable. Needs some more depth in a way but very good.

  • Mushroomy, masculin, simple. Drink now.

  • Consistant with last tasting of this wine. This one is perhaps over the top or in a weird way shutting down. Was utterly fantastic 4 years ago but is now a mere shadow of itself. A bit unbalanced towards acidity. Not much fruit showing right now.

  • Coravin 1/10/14: Youthful appearing color without much bricking; nose of cherries, slightly shrill, red licorice; palate is light bodied, chewy red fruits, red licorice, cherry, quite primary fruit, not much complexity; finish is short-medium. A simple wine with balance but a bit of brawny character on the palate. Maybe wait 1-2 years? 89
1.5 hours air: Nose has filled out, lost its shrillness. Quite balanced, very enjoyable. 89-90

Rockss and Fruit

(Serafin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes) Expanisve nose of cherries, smoke, roses, crushed violets, raspberries, game, earth. Lush in the mouth with nice bitter cherry in midpalate and layers of concentrated silky sweet fruit. Tannic on the finish with a hint of spearmint on the finish. This will be ideal in 3 years.
