This was pretty nice out of the bottle. ( purchased upon release). Cork was coming apart, but the wine was sound. Dark maroon in color, and has a classic Ridge taste, perhaps a tad of brett? but actually fairly pure, and rather pleasurable. Drank well its for 1.5 hour, but then started to turn more like a ripe Zin and continued on that path via the decanter. Good length and complexity and was youthful for the the first hour. Probably was prime about 2-5 years ago? Drink up.
Medium red-garnet. Aromas of mushroom soup, roasted beef bones, dried cherry, cow's milk. On arrival, smooth bodied, low acid and low tannin initially. Over the course of a couple hours, it's putting on a veil of fine grained tannin and an herbal note appears. Cherry and beefy flavors present quickly in the mouth, with some some ground pepper in there. Nice wine, plain and simple, not showy at all. Finishes medium short. From magnum, stored in cold cellar. Bottle 1 of one.
