Wonderful plush, deep garnet color with some heat coming from the glass out of the gate. Initial entry featured blackcherry, spicy raspberry and berry. Second level offered anise, bay leaf and tar. A finish marked by dried herbs and cocoa with a charred oak base. The second night this wine transformed into a more herbal, sage-like red and had lost most of its structure. A memorable wine when I bought at the winery upon release, is well past prime and should have been consumed young. Drink now

Time really helped this one. It is a soft wine, not a lot of acidity or structure, but it is actively pleasant to drink, smells quite good and works well as a cocktail (i.e., without food).

A big disappointment. I love this varietal, but this was not good. Closed, bitter, flat and unpleasant. For the sake of all the other club members who received this, I hope there is some bottle variation. This was easily the worst wine I have ever had from CSJ.
