Slightly mute nose that took it's time to come around. But then subtle notes of redberries, iron, some woodland, mushrooms. OK depth adds fragrant violets and raspberries. Medium body. Very tannic and a bit harsh. Austere with high acidity. Very mature but with some fruit left to lift the wine. Asphalt, some flowers and redberries. Tasted blind this was correctly spotted as old Barolo/Barbaresco. We thought it OK, but missed the perfume and freshness. Maybe better 5 years ago?

Consumed at Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, decanted for about 20 minutes. Very thin and tight for Barolo, especially at this age. Color looked more like a Pinot Noir with strawberry hue rather than inky purple. Nose was good with fruit and earth. Initially very biting tannins and thin texture. Finish was softer and it did soften overall towards the end of the bottle. Not at all what I expected from a 20 year old high quality Barolo.
