Holiday dinner at the French Embassy, Washington D.C. (French Embassy): When you are in the mood for late harvest, berry-by-berry selection, you can do a whole lot worse. Very custard cinnamon. Sumptuous. Raisin bread. Good acidity. Finesse in its spicy aspects. Delicious and seductive. Loads of sugar however… you have to be in the mood ;-). I was.

Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – Provenance, Power of Blind tasting and loving M. Gibourg CV (Charlie Palmer - Washington DC): When I had this wine in January of 2013, I thought it was 10W-40 like. Clearly I didn’t drink it next to a Albert Mann PG SGN. The nose is more precise and learner, canned yellow peach, also a hint of apricot, orange rind and ginger. Excellent concentration, steely mineral, bright acidity and a long sweet finish. Definitely more precise than the Albert Mann SGN. Once again, I would have preferred to drink this upon release. A nice way to end the lunch.

Darker gold now. Deep and intense with sweetness and some bite. Not something you would gulp down. It was a big crowd pleaser.

Fantastic showing. Very good nose, fantastic length. Mouth full of tasty dark white fruit with a good structure. Very very good.

Goodness gracious. Easily one of the best bottles I've ever had. Such striking acidity, bright fruit, and just stunning texture. What an epic memory.
