  • Leaf Day - mid neck fill. Cork broke upon removal. Decanted off a small amount of sediment and cork bits - most sediment stuck to side of bottle. Crimson in colour from the translucent core to the rim. Nose is pure ripe blue and black fruit with spice and some oak influence. There’s a touch of leather and earthiness on the nose as well. Very youthful! On the palate it’s smooth and rich with ripe blue and black fruit, spice and with medium resolved tannins and medium plus acidity. This is such a delicious wine even as a pop and pour. The finish is long with spice, floral elements and the bright fruit. Amazing!

2nd Day - Fruit Day - today the wine is showing plums and a delightful earthiness. The nose is dark florals and dark fruit. On the palate it’s smooth and mouth filling with the dark fruit, oak and spice continuing into the long finish. Even better today than yesterday. Wish I had more.

  • Dense dark garnet colored with a fragrant, slightly jammy nose with soft vanilla, spices, lavender and dark fruit. Soft, velvety mouth feel with a chewy texture. It does have quite modest acidity so it went very well with some spicy venison tacos, decidedly better with the food than the 2001 Torre Muga given the spice. This should probably be drunk up over the next couple years or so.

  • One of our go to every day wines. 04's are drinking well and I dint think will improve from here.

  • Textbook Malbec from the master! Caramel and brooding dark fruits on the nose, with powerful taste of fruits - raspberry perhaps dominating. Chocolate and peppery spice then hits you! Fantastic, and pleased that i have another 3 bottles to go.....

(CATENA MALBEC) #5(Red); VaynerPASS; COLOR-real nice, dark purple; NOSE-very tight, dirt, hint of dark cherry; TASTE-lively mouth-feel initially, but falls off quickly; alcohol is high, bitter, black licorice, candied strawberries, hot finish; WS-90; GV-86
