Opened with an initial bit of reduction on the nose. This blew off and there was a nice moderately mature burgundy with some sour cherry and mushroom flavors. Unfortunately, this was a bit bretty and I found that distracting from the enjoyment.

Good energy left with lots of black berry plum and roasted, meatly flavors. Good acidity and clarity of fruit still. Very nice and still has further potential.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted blind. Lots of red fruit, showing younger than expected from a 97. None of the over-ripeness and muddiness common from the vintage. Mostly red fruit, nice fruit intensity. Reasonable power and spice. Got better with a little more time in glass.

La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Spruce and RN74 - San Francisco CA): Fat fruit on nose, coming across as quite ripe, close to muddy. Better black and red fruit on palate with modest spice. Balanced, but short.

Decanted 15 minutes. Classic barnyard nose that blew off quickly. Very balanced, lovely wine. Medium body and color. Loved this one.
