Half cork extracted. Pushed rest into bottle. Very porty esters waft from the glass. Soft fruit once the wine settled. Tannins are now dominant and still drying. Not unpleasant. Lots of bottle variation.

Look back at previous notes, my commentary is very dependent on the cork quality. This one had a excellent cork, hardly used. Plums, stewed. Some raspberry. Fruit now well integrated with oak. Fine tannins, very drying. Alcohol is evident. Still big after 17 years.

Boxing Day drinks with a neophyte red drinker and an experienced one . We all enjoyed very much . Complex wine with 5 varietals ( thus the wine name ) and new French oak and mintaro slate open maturation Superb dark color and Easy drinking with balanced tannins, tobacco , spice and blackberry tastes . Highly recommended.

Well past I think, or just an off bottle. Very flat and a touch musty. Rest of the case was top class.
