  • a great nero d'avola. a big wine that needed more than the non-spicy pizza we first tried it with. a burst of fruit up front that smooths out with nice finish.

  • Interesting wine. My first Nero D'Avola. Big and sweet like a shiraz, but smooth and complex in many ways as well. Amazing nose of plums, herbs, spices, and earth. But it just turned out to be too sweet for my tastes.

  • Really drinking well at this point. Only decanted in glass for about 15 minutes and it was wide open already. Nice nose of cherry blossom and earthiness and the same attributes on the palate. The finish brings in the balance of additional mushroom qualities and is of medium length. I sense it has several more years of drinking window but not sure it will evolve any more.

  • Very bold and earthy with plenty of fruit - cherry, plum. Not for the dainty, as it has a full mouthful of garrigue and forest floor. Very well integrated so it is all enjoyable. Interesting grape every time I've tried it.

  • I couldnt wait any longer to try one of these and after 1 hour decanted, it was very good. Lots of the baking spices - especially cinnamon on the nose and initially on the palate, but a nice astringency and tartness from the cherry like fruit. Finish was decent, but may improve with ageing. A nice mid weight red with interesting nose and palate. It was great with dried meats and italian cheeses.
