  • Haven't had a Cathiard in some time and this one did not disappoint. Very expressive from both the nose and palate. Freshness from the red fruits is really uplifting and it's delicious.

  • Very good but not quite up to the 2007, which was even lighter and more lush.
Beware, I scored Cathiard's 2006 Orveaux and Suchots 96 pts as well, so it is not necessary to pay premium to get the same quality.

  • bottle opened and a wash of spicy red fruit and cherries came up. sommelier smiled, i smiled and few others did as well. still very young primary fruits and taste but really well balanced. it was like a warm cherry crumble with xmas spice being baked. long finish very good bottle. wotn

  • Vosne-Romanee Grand Crus for Michael and Peter's Birthdays 2015 (Gattopardo Restaurant, Tras Street, Singapore): Wow. This was something else. Of all the wines we had, it was the only one that was way too young to drink, but otherwise - Wow! The quality of the wine, even at its young age, was phenomenal, and this is from someone who is not normally given to hyperbole. The nose was still very youthful, almost infantile, but boy was it perfumed, with deep, heady wafts of flowers and sweet cherries and raspberries, and just a hint of spicy notes and a rubbery twang at the edges nodding towards Vosne. Some on the table commented that there was almost a new world character on the nose with all its sweet, ripe fruit, but I thought there was something a bit finer to it, more perfumed than confection maybe. Whatever the case might be, on the palate at least, there was certainly no doubt that this was Burgundy, and absolutely top drawer Burgundy at that. It was stunning purity of the wine here that got me; how its sweet flavours of raspberries and red cherries and strawberries were ringing with a clarity and transparency that took the breath away. There was great depth, there was opulent fleshiness, and there was power aplenty - all in true Cathiard style; and boy, the fruit was really primary too - but all this was cut through by that wonderful beam of purity, lending the wine a finesse and grace that I have never yet had in a new world Pinot. Right on the finish, the fruit was undergirded by a nice bit of mineral and shades of dried earth and spice giving way to a little lick of oak at the end, all wrapped in a fine, velvety tannins. Still an infant, but this was really, really impressive. I cannot remember being as impressed with a young Burgundy since I had Mugnier's 2002 Musigny many years back, and this is from a weaker vintage too! Absolutely super stuff - a wine to set aside for a decade or so and then to come back to with great expectation.

  • Such a beautiful, sexy, pure wine!
    It’s stunning!!
    Leaves you completely breathless!
When I first dipped my nose in the glass, I actually had a tear rolling down my cheek.
This is one of the most complex and beautiful noses I have ever experienced.
Such pure and clean spicy fragrances, a touch of the heavenly kingdom!
In the mouth the wine just keeps on going on forever and ever.
The immorality is outstanding, and the balance impeccable.
This effort is extraordinary, and I can only speculate in where this wine will end up a few years from now.
At this point, in its young and still not fully developed stage, it’s already magical and one of my top wine experiences this year.
Had this against Hudelot – Noellat R.S.V 08 and Confuron R.S.V 08, and this was the winner in this top flight of R.S.V.
