Earthy, leather, on the nose; cassis, dark berries and cherry dominate the palate. I'm glad I decided to open this bottle over this holiday season. I expect this wine would only decline from this point forward. Drink now and enjoy.

Moderate bricking. It is developing some nice secondary notes along with red fruits and meat aromas. Medium weight with good extract and moderate acidity. Nicely balanced with a sweet finish.

Drank side-by-side w/Rousseau Clos de Beze. Good, but pales in comparison. Fairly significant bricking at this point. Interesting nose dominated by meat and truffle oil notes. Good acidity and a fair bit of tension overall on the palate. Fading fruit not replaced with enough secondary components to raise it up a notch or two, however. A little bit of heat comes through as well. Now + 3-5 years seems about right for this.

Gevrey Chambertin Blind Tasting: Blind- A Rather modern nose with some heat on the finish. Smoky oak but with an interesting earthiness and iodine notes. Enjoyable.

Pre-La Paulee Dinner at Zachys Auction and After-Party (Michael Mina and RN74 - San Francisco CA): Charming fruit, even if not powerful in the classic manner of Chambertin-Clos de Beze. Good spice and finesse with a surprisingly long finish given just modest density. At its peak today.
