Wow, what a surprise this turned out to be. I bought this in 2008 at the winery and thought it would be an okay midweek drinker. I left it in my cellar until now (2013) and this wine has aged extremely well. I don't care for Zinfandel that much. Most of the time it's too sweet and syrupy for me. But this is a really unique expression of the grape and the region. The flavor profile shows a deep, dark black fruit with an herbaceous—hints of rosemary sap—mid palate and long plum skin finish. It has the quality that old vines usually produce.

Amazing, I went wine tasting in Temecula and bought this bottle after trying it at the winery. I have been aging it for way too long just because I could not find the right time to open it. Well it is Valentines day and we opened and drank it with our filet mignon dinner. All I can say is this wine is absolutely a great aging wine. The suggested drinking date was 2010 but here we are in 2010 and I wish I had a case of this stuff. It seems most of the tannins have settled and the wine is really complex with hints of blackberry, licorice, leather. This is definitely a sweeter wine because it is a zinfandel, but I cannot say enough about this stuff. Excellent!

Brownish-red color. Dark fruit (plum, black cherry), cinnamon, and leather on the nose. Sweet cassis and cherry on the palate. Milk chocolate, cinnamon, and lovely spice on the finish. Great acidity, firm tannins. Long, long finish. Absolutely wonderful complexity in this Zin. Need to buy more!

Blind Zins For Lunch (Vineyard Music Office): Very ripe juicy type of nose with plenty of heat and VA. Very juicy with a nice palate feel. Full and candy like. The type of Zin that gave it a bad name with wine geeks. VA got worse with air.

great start (peppery) but after a few sips it starts to taste like grape juice.
