When I pulled this 2002 vintage from our cellar and saw the $14.99 price I feared that we had we had waited far too long to open it. We were very pleasantly surprised. This cabernet has aged beautifully and was every bit as good as some of the $80 bottles of Napa Cab that we have had recently. How does Souverain do it?

I've always loved Souverain with a bit of age on it. This one was no exception - it's in a really good place right now. Very well balanced, full fruit, resolved, but with the impression of enough structure to suggest that there's no need to rush.

Blah Blah... So..... I've had several of these. The latest bottle, when uncorked, struck me with wild gamey zin like aromatics. Then it calmed over about 45 minutes into something completely different. Road tar, camphor, melted licorice.... (I threw in "melted" for the RP fans out there...) but seriously... This became a very northern Italian, super Tusky Cal versiom of a CabSyrah, aromatically. Delish...

- Garnet color with slow forming legs with a light/medium body. Narrow texture with a short finish - Slow to open up, but softened considerably after a couple of hours. Still significant fruit. Slight impressions of chocolate and cherries. Wouldn't wait much longer for this vintage.
