Rockss and Fruit

(J.J. Prum Berkasteler Badtstube Spatlese Feinherb) A bit of sulfur upon opening but that quickly blew off. This wine really did not get going until the second day when soaring aromas of slate, green apple skins and stone fruits appeared. The palate was crisp and clear with great concnetration and juicy apple, lime fruit. Crunchy minerality and nice depth of mineral-tinged fruit on the finish. A great wine and truly an interesting expression of dry Mittle Mosel Riesling.

(J.J. Prum Bernkasteler Badstube Spatlese feinherb) This was the first drier style Prum I have ever had. I am game. This was a stunner. Gorgeous almost skeletal slate on the nose with green apples. Palate is full of fruit and rocky minerality but an opulence shines through while remaining essentially on the drier side. I love the balance of this wine and the tension between massive chalkiness and green apple and pear fruit.
