Classic Cornas - mid-weight, earthy notes with subtle black fruit. Very enjoyable.

Vinetasters: Cornas vs. Cote Rotie (Skokie, IL): Served double blind in a flight of Cornas or Cote Rotie. There's a slight bit of wood and char on the nose here. The black fruit here has some more tart aromas. This seems to carry through onto the palate, which shows black fruit and tons of acidity. I'm guessing this is a bit lighter in terms of the vintage, but this is almost certainly a heavier, coarser wine (making me think Cornas). The tannins are chewy still, so it's an interesting question with respect to further aging. My 7th, group's 5th.
