We were surprised that this 11 year old chardonnay was still going strong. If you have some, don't give up on it, but it's probably a good idea to drink it soon. Beautiful golden color, hints of nectarine and cherry with an pleasant oiliness on the finish that suggest that it once had some oak, but it is definitely french style, and is somewhat reminiscent of sauvignon blanc and viognier.

light gold color. banana, pear, smoke, and toasty oak aromas on the nose. rich mouthfeel with medium body weight. flavors of apples, vanilla, sweet corn and minerality. not much length on the finish. a bit alcoholic...needs some time after popping.

NOSE: not very expressive or complex: aromas of underripe pear, vanilla bean, and oak.
BODY: clear, pale green-yellow color; medium-full body.
TASTE: this wine has a lush mouthfeel and a nice rich palate; certainly on the buttery end of the Chard. spectrum of personality, I also detected a hint of raisin and plenty of oak (more oak than I'd prefer); a streak of acidity runs down the center of the palate and plays well against the richness of this wine; the palate is full, but disjointed; the finish is short (15 sec.). I firmly believe I killed a baby here -- this will improve with short-term cellaring.
