What a joy to to experience a perfectly aged bottle of this caliber. Silky Tannins almost fully resolved. Hints of smoke, earth, still some fresh fruit.

Second Sunday Group: Aged Alsatian Riesling Vendange Tardive (Neil's): Popped and poured, showing a youthful dark color. Rather tight at first, could have used a healthy decant. Meaty aromas with dark fruit and cherry underneath. Flavors of cherry, tea and earth. Really nice density on the palate. 92-93 pts. Hold until 2021+, or decant.

Tasted at a La Paulee Lunch. Dark garnet, nose of red fruit, spices, good intensity. Enters the palate tight and concentrated, present tannins, could be softer, a slight oxidative touch on the finish.

4th Saturday Group Annual Champagne Tasting (Sue's): Opens with a lovely perfumed floral quality, followed by cherry, minerals and red fruit. Nicely balanced. Cherry and mineral flavors with forest floor, rose petal and iron flavors underneath. Medium finish. 91+ pts.

Jays big Bottle Party, from a double magnum. First flight. Opened several hours before the tasting
Nose was a little reticent, got some floral and red fruit. Palate was red fruits, cherry, earth/pine. Medium finish.
I think this would have been more ready/expressive from a 750 or much longer decant.
