We found this wine more elegant than the Giacosa Barolo 1988(see my notes). Tannins were softer, with ripe berry fruit on the nose, a little flat follow through on the palate, a little heavy in alcohol, but not overwhelming – Perfectly delicious, a lovely surprise.
Brooding nose of earth and mushrooms. Not a concentrated wine, but the palate was great! Bigtime saddle leather and earth that lasts... Finish is lip smackingly dry - a mild shortcoming, but not enough to dampen my enthusiasm. Nice Barolo!
