A Champagne blind tasting with 5 (Bollinger GA 1999, De Sousa 3A, Gimonnet 2000, Egly-Ouriet V.P., Pommery Louise 1998) different bottles (7 persons). For me the 2nd best, overall 3rd splitted rank, I was suprised from the elegance and crispy clean acidity, Brioche, straight finish, 10 more years for maturing

Very steely and chalky on the nose. Massive acidity huts on the attack, excellent Chardonnay fruit. Tight and linear, incredibly young for a 2000 - requires food.

Wow. Not having had a lot of experience with aging Champagne (even in the short term) I was delighted with the results here (disgorged 7/08). Dryness to the max, but I wouldn't call it lean as the structure and complexity suggest a richness that simply isn't there. Aromatics are solid and lovely, but it is the intricate balance on the finish that makes this mindblowing. A splurge that was worth every penny.

Really in a lovely place. Fresh, racy and zesty, but not the least bit lean. Drinking great now, but still another seven to ten years left in the tank. How many other non-dosé champagnes can perform at this level?

Although the aromas are agreeable, the wine is a bit too lean for it's own good and I strongly preferred the Fleuron edition of this wine.
