Battle of the Bordeaux Blends 2 (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Aired in decanter for about an hour and drank over 2 hours. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, dark fruit, and some toasted vanilla oak. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of earth, blackcurrant, blackberries, brambles. Long finish. Drinking blind, this felt almost like a Bordeaux wine, but somehow not quite it. Very good quality. This will improve over the next 5+ years.
I have tasted this wine several times and it is always a feast. (See also previous notes). My blind notes this time are: Ripe red and dark forest fruits and beautiful oak flavors. Same on the palate. Some chocolate as well. Soft tannin with a soft bite and plenty of future. 94+ for today.
