Well balanced inexpensive Syrah. Robert Parker has called Guigal the planet's best wine maker. Have to agree here. Amazing what can be done in a humble appelation.
Eye: deep garnet color. Nose: cherries, smoke, leather, vanilla. Palate: good structure, tannins still present, nice fruit, medium to full body, medium finish.

Ruby color, great on the palate after an hour of air time. This vintage still has some time life left. The nose is much different than the palate, which is a bit smoky and has a hint of spice. The berry flavors are muted, but still present. Great wine, excellent QPR, and and excellent example of how a French wine can represent old wine complexity without breaking the bank.
This was a nice bottle but towards the end of its peak. Some fruit with a hint of smoke.
