From Magnum. I had this standing up on my counter for nearly two years so the cork was a mess but happily the ah-so took care of it. This started out a bit dried out and tired but it came around and grew richer with a couple hours of slow-ox. Classic Côte-Rôtie with tertiary aged notes: relaxed red fruit, leathery and earthy notes, nicely integrated and polished with age. Very honest wine, well made and a fine accompaniment to lamb stew with olives.

Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting (3/9 Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting, NYC): Robe totally brown and orange at this point. Nose similar to old autumn leaves, so much rust. Palate is cool and round, well-behaved--quite the magic act! No brett here and I can be very picky about that, so confident this magnum is a horse of a different color from MC 2's bottle. Very good.

First bottle from the lot and it's pure brett. Last wine of the night and still it stands out quite strongly in my mind. All horseblanket. I don't mind it as much as some do, but hope that all three aren't quite so intense.

Charleston VII; 11/2/2022-11/6/2022 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): Not quite as overpowering bretty as our first bottle but not really clean either. It's definite barnyard and funk.
