I remember liking the last bottle we opened, which was in 2013, I think. The deep reddish purple color did not show aging, but we should not have waited to drink this one. Some off-putting chemical aromas were present upon opening.
These faded after about 30 mins, and what was left was dull with the fruit gone. Tannins remain which combine with bitterness into an unappealing beverage.
If you have any, you might want to drink soon, and have a backup ready.
CH's description suggested it is a "Cellar Selection" that would reward 8 to 12 years of patience, although my experience suggests the 8 was stretching it.

Last bottle, rated it 2 points higher than one consumed in 2012. Tannins integrated, fruit is muted and mature, picked up a chalk taste that wasn't there last time. Even with proper storage, sediment is moderate. Drink up if you have any left. Not one of CH's best QPR's.

A bit disappointing for the price back paid. Had two of these in the cellar since 2/14/2008. Drank one at 10/29/2010. Tannins are moderate-to-mild, dry and fruit in muted, some subtle wood and anise, acidity and tartness remains. Served with a flatiron steak and green beans which paired well.
