Overoaked. It did open up with some air. The oak monster aaaaaaaa was hiding all of the complex flavors of this wine. Lots of citrus, fresh apple, lemon, minerals all tainted by the monster. Watch out for him. On a side note, the Peays make excellent wine overall and their estate chard kicks ass.

COnsumed at Connoisseurs dinner at Les Nomades on 12/03/2009. Served with scallop over braised oxtail. Rich and complex. Vanilla, lemon, creme brulee, pear. Great rich, full mouthfeel. Everyone loved this wine. Not much oak.

This followed the '06 Rodney Strong Russian River Valley Reserve which was great, but the Peay was even better. Very rich and complex with minerals, white peach and nectarine flavors, as well a great balance. Wonderful with wild mushroom risotto.

Something was way off with this bottle. Maybe that is why it was reduced.
