Consumed over three days. The bottle was in very good condition, with less than three cm headspace between the wine and the cork (upper mid shoulder) and just a tiny bit of leakage. The cork broke, but did not crumble and came out in two pieces. The wine was amber, almost orange-brown in colour. There was notable sediment of tartrate crystals in the bottle. The Sauternes offered a complex nose of orange peel, apricot pie, a hint of pear, caramel, cane sugar, a hint of almond, candle wax, beeswax and mild botrytis spice. On the palate the wine showed orange, apricot, a hint of pear, caramel, cane sugar, bitter almond, hints of black tea and tobacco and a mild but persistent botrytis spiciness that got more and more prominent with air. The wine’s medium-plus sweetness was balanced by high acidity. The medium-bodied, medium-rich Sauternes was balanced and had very good length. It seemed even fresher, more elegant and lighter on its feet on day three. A complex, well-aged Sauternes. We liked it. Should pair well with apricot pie.

Darker age color, apricot, smooth and delicious. Great valentines treat we shared with our friends at CCF.

Bright hay color. Good nose and warm palate fell, no bit at the end. Very good indeed.

Holiday Champagne Gala (Park Ridge Country Club): Small glass, brief note. Very old, not particularly drinkable. Disappointing for the vintage.
