Drunk at restaurant Aureole, NYC, during dinner with Commanderie des Costes du Rhône. Bottle #8 from a case bought on release and stored in cold cellar. Pale yellow, pristine nose of lychee and apricot. This wine has been at a plateau of effortless maturity for about 4 years and will last for at least another 4-5. It is my style of Condrieu, dry, fragrant, medium bodied, lychee and minerals on the mid palate, sneaky persistent on the finish. Candidly, I preferred a 2005 Chateau Grillet that someone brought but many at the table were bonkers over the St. Cosme.

Bargain condrieu. Nose of peach, musk, orange blossom, hints of lychee and strawberry, nutty ginger toffee in the background - this really starts to smooth out and add complexity with air. Piercing lemon attack, yet only medium bodied with subtle rounded tannins that keep on giving, hints of almond and perfume; apricot finish with ginger tingle. So clean and not so overblown as some much more expensive examples.

Sea Bass and veggie curry... this Condrieu is quite delicious, textured, exotic, great balance... lovely wine indeed

Bottle way over the hill - but knew that this was likely as soon as I noticed that I still had an '06 Condrieu...
