  • This was spot on. Well balanced and integrated tannins. Mix of ripe red and dark fruit with tertiary notes of old leather, iron and cigar box. No need to decant but advise to open the bottle a few hours in advance. Good persistence and very enjoyable to the last sip.

  • Slight nose of TCA when smelling on the bottle right after pulling the cork, which rose suspicion. Nose in the glass impeccable. Dark fruit, dark chocolate and coffee. The palate then thin, acidic and pronounced tannins with lack of fruit and depth. Couldn‘t say clearly corked since I did not detect the common taste of TCA on the palate. This however definitely was flawed as it never lived up to my expectations compared to the last bottle. The corky smell on the bottle grew bigger with time.

  • Color/App: deep/dark ruby core -> moderately deep crimson/garnet rim; medium viscosity. This needed about 60 - 90+ minutes of air to try to smooth out it's rough personality. Bouquet of primarily black fruits, leather, roasted meat and as most tasters seem to note -- a distinct iron element. Palate still strikes me as fairly tannic for a 17 year old St. Joseph; it's in need of some big food. Black currants and black raspberries, black cherries, blood and anise, this comes across as pretty dark and backwards. Nice acidity and with a little shorter finish than I would like, I'd say that while I like this, it could use more charm.

  • Black cherry, plum and dried red currant on the nose. Pronounced leather, iron and graphite upon opening. The metallic flavours receeded after few hours of air but remained present. Rich and powerful, lingering acidity, dark fruit, blackberry, cherry, black currant, lavender, black pepper, tobacco and leather. Well integrated tannins, still brooding. Good persistence and drinking beautifully now

  • In a great place here. Tannins are resolved. Lots of animal undertone/bacon.
