  • Flannery night at the loft (My place, newk’s loft, Portland OR): This was decanted for a few hours and it opened up beautifully. The second you put your nose to the glass, this is just on the right side of dirty Cote-Rotie with loads of bacon fat, black olives, white pepper, black cherries, raspberries, licorice, crushed rocks, earth notes, funk, leather, and tobacco notes. This shows off some lovely depth with a bit of savoriness to the tones and an understated richness to the nose. The feel is Medium bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity and refined, medium+ tannins. The structure has predominately pulled back while the feel shows off a lot of depth and balance with just a bit of dirtiness that makes you want more. This is right in its pomp and there are many years left ahead.
