Tasted by sbeeks on 12/21/2008 & rated 88 points: This bottle drank a bit too fruity and light. I did not enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed Fog in the past. Doesn't display the "depth" of the great pinots or of a great Burgundy. (482 views)
Tasted by dmorris on 3/6/2008 & rated 94 points: (421 views)
Tasted by Bressler on 12/30/2007: lots of VA, not enjoyable at all (1016 views)
Tasted by jsebiri on 12/29/2007 & rated 86 points: pinot nose for sure , too harsh on the taste buds>i am becoming less enamored with this label for sure.thought the 2002 was similarly disjointed (730 views)
Tasted by Bressler on 12/5/2007 & rated 92 points: For whatever reason, this seems to be a controversial wine. Visually it is a bit muddy, but the flavors are smooth and intense. I'm really happy to have more of this (827 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 2/26/2007: G7: Strawberry preserves in a glass. Notes of liquorice. Bitter cherries. Tastes like cough medicine. Very alcoholic. 14.5% alcohol. Not a fan. (1316 views)

Tasted by SteelerFan on 12/20/2006 & rated 87 points: I was somewhat disappointed with this bottle. Good fruit, but it somehow didn't come together into a cohesive pinot. I agree with those who describe it as a nice bottle to drink but not worth going out of the way for. (1111 views)
Tasted by sbeeks on 12/17/2006 & rated 91 points: Sunday night family dinner. Had lemon-thyme roasted chicken. Always good. More fruit than you would expect. (1088 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 11/30/2006 & rated 92 points: Wellfleet Dinner (The Fish Guy Market - Chicago, IL): Ruby red with a nose of baking spices, cherry fruits and herbs. Medium bodied with an impressive attack featuring textured cherry fruit. Plenty of layers and depth. Long finish. Nicely done but not worthy of the tarriff. (1580 views)
Tasted by elpasset on 7/21/2006 & rated 91 points: Very enjoyable. I just question whether it is worthg the price. It tastes similar to wines that are $20-$30 less expensive. (1324 views)
Tasted by ehfarber on 6/17/2006 & rated 86 points: Decanted for one hour and served slightly chilled. Muddy medium red color. Nice nose of dark black fruit and spice. This is a very concentrated pinot with lots of dark fruit flavors with good acid balance but minimal depth. The wine has good overall balance but little energy, lift and personality. We both preferred the Radio Coteau Savoy over the AF. (1418 views)

Tasted by nvandyk on 6/4/2005 & rated 94 points: Horizontal pinot tasting. Placed first of the 10 bottles with Steve and Pam. A little astringent on the nose, it is much mellower on the palate. Black cherries are emphasized. Definitely needs to age a bit, but is going to be a terrific Pinot in a couple of years. (2309 views)
Tasted by elpasset on 5/30/2005 & rated 90 points: Very nice bottle of wine. Decanted for a couple of hours before drinking. Nice fruit forward, but not overpowering. (1995 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 3/26/2005: Enjoyed this with stuffed salmon - (2127 views)
Tasted by 1800kidney on 12/15/2004 & rated 92 points: Lovely...excellent fruity presence and balanced mid palate...will last, wish I had more! (2608 views)

About Red Wines

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.
The meticulously farmed vineyard of Richard Savoy lies in one of the coolest regions of Anderson Valley just west of the town of Philo. The southwest-facing slopes are cooled by afternoon breezes and the effects of the coastal climate. We harvest seven clones from different sections of the vineyard to create the final blend, capturing the full range and quality of Savoy.

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
