  • Streaking wine on the cork and muddled flavors make me think that this wine has seen some improper storage conditions along the way, but what was underneath seemed promising. Some Gevrey meaty notes and nice flavor impact.

  • Streaking on the cork. Nice bottle but nothing earth shattering. Possibly heat damaged? Remember previous bottle as being better. Nice nose of funky earth, dark and oaky, a lot of flavor impact but a somewhat short finish. Will hold remaining bottle to see what happens.

  • Very nice again. A bit rich for me these days, maybe, but very earthy and with sufficient minerality and acidity to frame the fruit (and wood) flavors. It's drinking well, though it may not be exactly my style at the moment--I am as fickle as the wind.

  • Transporting. Over a late dinner of salad and meaty bean stew (it has no other name), this wine brought all it was meant to bring and more. We love Burgundy because it sidles up to us, a little slinky and a little smokey, patiently waiting while our senses react. It took half an hour tonight. And then I was all in. Oh you want to know what it looked and smelled and tasted like? Well,. it was a bit brickish, a maturing red, and it smelled of maturing smells, of smoke and dark cherries and, oddly, a little of apples and pears. It was bit disjointed at first on the palate, but came around in time. The oak is noticeable still, I think, but not obstrusive--maybe that's a good sign that, along with the light tannic bite, that this has some time. I think it does. I'm going back for more.
