  • My personal favorite at a group tasting that featured wines of any variety from anywhere, but to be "Oscar Worthy." All wines served blind. This was my entry and it was my personal favorite, with dense earthiness, notes of figs, dried plums, spice cookies and dried fruits. Plenty of acidity and firm but polished tannin. My last bottle but I think this wine will be long-living for those who cellar it for many years.

  • Took to dinner at Bestia. Hard to assess at this point because the air was so smoky that the wine's aroma could barely be discerned. But I did note that it is still very tightly wound, giving up some red cherry and sweet leather notes at the very end of the bottle. Hold.

  • Beautiful bright red, still looks young. Long legs. Nose of cedar, cherries and spices. A big wine. Lovely palate matching nose. Medium length finish followed by mild grainy tannins. My last bottle. Wish I had a couple more to open over the next couple of years. Deolisous.

  • Huge and impenetrable on day one; somewhat jammy and dominated by rich dark fruit and graphite on the nose and the palate is prett monolithic and unyielding. Hard to describe at this point other than a bruiser and seemingly a new world bordeaux blend of high breed, full of fruit and structure without being overly hot. Day two: cool blue fruit and graphite emerge on the nose with a floral aspect above everything and some creme de cassis and tarry notes; the palate is still extremely extracted and tannic; plenty of dry extract here; dark fruit surrounding a core of mineral/graphite and a balanced acidity that keeps the wine from being cloying. Well made but in a pretty modern-seeming style at this point. Would never guess this as tempranillo. Remaining bottles could use plenty of time. Hands off for now.
