Translucent ruby red color. A bit maderized on the nose. Sharp and unpleasant on the palate, strawberry, brown sugar. Sharp tannins, harsh acidity, out of balance. Finishes short and unpleasant. Well past peak. No score, not fair at this point.

Time to work on the aging Archery Summit collection; this one came to hand out of the "cellar." I have never read poetry written about the 2006 vintage in the Willamette compared with several other vaunted vintages, that seem to occur almost annually these days. This example suggests that it is holding up well. Very clear ruby red, maybe just a little fading at the rim; somewhat muted aroma of dark fruits and a little smoky spice; initially on the palate quite complex with earthy, mineral, spicy notes, that resolved over time into bright, rich cherry. Almost zero residual tannin (contrast with younger versions), a very clean, smooth, long finish. For sure this is good; but then I have to note that this is up the top end of my price point, so it really ought to deliver.

Several Tastings today! (Minneapolis, MN): Underwhelming. Vanilla, spice, floral and underbrush. This wine lacks personality and complexity. Should have been consumed several years ago. Normally not a fan of the Cellar Tracker drinking window but this one is spot on.

Textbook example of well-aged Oregon Pinot Noir from a top-shelf producer, among the best in the region. Shows potential for another 3-5 years, but probably drinking at the peak right now. Richly dark in fruit and flavor, well-integrated and finishing quite long. Gentle tannins in the background, and hints of smoke throughout.

Ruby red pour with dark raspberries and a smokey aroma
On the palate, a smoothly aged balance of tannins and acidity and present but not overbearing red fruits.
