  • Not a lot of fruit, bu still decent after a good decant and aeration. Only a bit of sediment at 17 years of age.

  • Classic CdP profile (earth red and purple fruit, leather) but not particularly complex. Good value for a CdP. Drink now.

  • Wanted something more mature and got it. This drinks well. 3 hour decant. Garnet you can't see through and it somehow looks and swirls lighter. Nose is stewed red fruits, rhubarb on a tart note, anise, licorice, vanilla, some all spice. Front hits with a blend of red fruits, Raspberry being what I get most, slight cherry. Mature fruit, pie material, well integrated. Acidity {medium+} kicks in headed towards mid and potent, nice woody funk, griippy tannins underlying dried red florals coming to the table. Great textural transitions and nuances. You can pull on a lot of fun threads with this wine. Finish lingers nicely and I find it super satisfying, I can take a nice breather between sips; think on it. May not be firing on all its younger cylinders, its all OK, it has a whole bunch of fun things to enjoy and dissect. Can't lose for the money. Time, will also not let this become a long term science project. Enjoy in the best term and should not disappoint.

  • Decanted for sediment. Light garnet color. Nose of cherry cough drop, licorice, slightly stewed/baked red fruits. Similar flavors on the palate with a definite cough drop and licorice note on the back end. Medium- acid, medium+ tannin with a bit of heat on the finish. Probably would have been better a few years ago so I would drink up if holding any.

(Patrickl Lesec Les Galets Blonds Chateauneuf du Pape) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-some big chalkiness; cranberries; a little creaminess; and some sour cherry; very aggressive as "you can smell the tannins"; a little gaminess; beautiful sour cherries coming through; perfumed; very clean and very focused nose; PALATE-there's a big mouthfeel; very aggressive tannin on the back-end; this is a very big wine (should decant); the sour cherry and cranberry is dominating this wine; a little floral and gamey action as well; this is a very serious and complete wine; quite sensational and spectacular for $38 bones; JR-92/94; RP-93; GV-93
