Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 81 points

  • Negotiated a 12b case for 9/b from a local independent retailer 12+ years ago; this is #7. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Medium purple with bit of amber edge when it first splashed into the decanter; fragrant, mature red fruits, mild garrigue; mature fruit, some baking spice, good mouthfeel; some persistence. The fruit is not as vivid, but it is delicious and has gained some complexity with time. Won't improve, glad I have a few more for the near term. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.
