  • Full ruby color. Nose: cherry / black raspberry pie, intense black olive, hot cinnamon candy (red hots), herbal underpinnings of rosemary and sage. Palate: explosion of black raspberry liqueur and spiced fruitcake with cocoa, more hot cinnamon candy, as well as more lingering garrigue and black olive. A little hint of barnyard in there. Medium body with superb focus and structure. Moderate/long bone-dry finish with some nice flinty minerality and rustic tannins going on. Another knock-out from this excellent producer.

  • Profugo Pre-Taste (My apartment): medium intensity nose shows an interesting combination of kirsch liqueur and garrique/forest floor. The medium intensity palate shows lovely violet and milk chocolate notes dancing on top of the dark plum and meat flavors that dominate. a woodsy foundation brings the palate together. the medium length finish is pleasant and leaves the fruit flavors behind in the mouth with hints of menthol. excellent value.
