Enjoyed at the Mikado dinner. It was one of the few new world wines, and I thought it was a refreshing change of pace. Classic Cali notes of lemon, papaya, and butterscotch, all backed with solid acidity
Opened 1.5 hours... Beautiful gold color with excellent clarity. Nose is wonderfully complex with oak, vanilla, honeysuckle, granite, tropical fruits, pear, almond - just a bit over-weighted to the oak and vanilla. Full mouthfeel with bright acid, not enough to pucker just enough to still dance on the tongue. Pears, lemon, honey, oak, peach and almost overdone but touches the line without crossing it. Very clean finish that could use a bit of oomph but still very nice. Excellent example of what CA chardonnay can be. Works with food and after dinner sipping.
Popped and poured. Light gold. Exotic aromatics of tropical fruits. On the palate rich w marzipan, guava, unctuous as noted previously but not heavy or sweet. Just enough balancing acidity; lovely wine, but I would drink up.
