Drank over 2 sessions on the 1st and the 8th using Art Preserve. Nose of raisin, prunes and nuts. Palate was soft with date, plum, and a dusty earthiness. Finish was excellent with raisin and dried prunes and segued into leather and sandalwood with drying tannins. Great balance no heat. Held together after 16 years.

Sean says it's jammy. Not sure anyone else agrees. Aryn says it has depth. It does. Tara likes the alcohol structure on the back end. Rich likes the balance. Plum and tart with complex Stone fruit and blackberry on the finish. A bit of earth and herb. Quite ready now.

Mmmmm. Decanted for about an hour and drank over the next hour. Gorgeous. It was pretty dark for a barolo I thought but smelled and tasted like a stereotypical nebbiolo wine. Very floral, very tarry. Also had some anise and pepper, a little bit or red berry fruit, and a little bit of earth. Bracing acidity. Long finish. My wife said she thought the nose was a bit "harsh" but I'm not sure what that was about.
Served with mushroom risotto and veal chops. Great pairing. One of the best wines I've had in a while.

Very interesting. I have two distinct impressions, very distinct. After about 90 minutes open, but not decanted.
First, before dinner, I tried it by itself. The nose is phenomenal, but I was pretty unimpressed when I drank it. It seemed flabby. On the nose, a lot of floral scents. Red berry, maybe a little cherry on the palate, but not engaging.
Second, with dinner (risotto and veal chop), still gorgeous nose (really gorgeous nose actually) but it tastes phenomenal. What seemed flabby now seems nicely acidic and very well balanced. Very odd. Tangy finish with a little black pepper. And a little bit smoky.
First impression just ok, second it was phenomenal. Funny how that works.

Nice Barolo. Tobacco and red fruit on the nose. Distinct cherry notes on the palate. Nicely balanced with good depth of fruit. Seems to be, for my tastes in its prime drinking window. More modernly styled than some. Agree with previous reviewer re: "no tar", but that didn't bother me, as I enjoy a modern interpretation of Barolo as much as the more traditional.
